Seven Jewellery trends You Need to Know for 2021

With a new year comes a new season of fashion trendes, and jewellery is different. While some pieces will never go out of style, there's definitely some do's and don'ts of fine jewellery this year as well as some surprising trends that are taking the industry by storm. Read on for your top seven Jewellery trends for 2021 and why you'll want to wear them this year.

1. Pearls Pearls Pearls!

There is a certain timeless elegance with pearl jewellery. While pearls may always be in vogue in one form or another, they made a real comeback in 2020 with celebrities, models and common folk alike sporting a necklace or a set of pearl earrings. We haven't seen the end of this trend yet and predict pearls will be even bigger in 2021.

The great thing about pearl jewellery is that there are lots of options out there. For the traditionalists among us, a sophisticated pair of round, white South Sea Pearl earrings could be just what you need. If you're looking for a more modern twist, drop earrings might be more your style or you could opt for Tahitian Pearls for a splash of exotic tropical colour.

2. Chains with Bold Pendants

The next trend we're falling for are chains with bold pendants. In many cases, the bigger you go, the better. However, you can still make a statement wiht a small pendant in the right style. A simple cross necklace might not seem like much, but having the weight of solid gold to keep your pendant in placemakes even seemingly delicate pieces perfect for this trend. Pair your pendant with a stylish blouse or dress and you'll be certain to turn heads on your next night out.

3. A Bit of Sparkle

Much like pearl jewellery, diamonds never go out of style! This year, classic diamond studs are a must-have and pair effortlessly with every outfit and occasion. A dainty pair of 0.30ct studs adds just a touch of sparkle and shine to your work outfit. Going out for a special event? Put a larger 0.60ct pair on to instantly add some glitz to your wardrobe.

And, if you're just starting your diamond journey, take advantage of our Diamond Upgrade Plan - you'll save money every time you trade in your diamond studs for the next size up, so even the largest diamond earrings aren't out of your reach!

4. Yellow Gold and Layering Necklaces

Move over ring stacks, its time for layering necklaces! While we might not have yet seen the back of the stackable rings and bracelets trend, 2021 brings a new variation of this style with layering necklaces. Pairing a shorter charm necklace with a longer chain style works well for a sophisticated style or you can mix and match different styles and textured for a more youthful look. All colours of chain work for this trend but yellow gold is particularly in.

5. Charms and Icons

Did you have a charm bracelet when you were young? While this might seem like a trend from a bygone era, charms are back in and bigger than ever. Charms can be warn on both bracelets and necklaces, with as simple or eclectic a style as you may choose. Unconventional icons are especially on trend and are a great talking pint at parties - imagine all the compliments you'll get when you layer up a cross, horseshoe and Hereford on your necklace to really show your country spirit.

Al of our pendant necklace styles can be purchased as individual charms without chains - simply contact us or discuss in store.

6. Lengthy Necklaces

We've already discussed layering your necklaces, but if you're opting for just a simple 'one and done' option, a necklace with a long chain will ensure you're looking stylish this year. While some catwalk looks may have taken this trend to the extreme, we don't think tripping on your necklace is a good idea. A continuous chain with a 75cm length or so should be plenty and is easy to style for a range of dressed down and glammed up looks.

7. Statement Colours

Finally, if traditional golds and classic gemstones don't take your fancy, you can amp up your look with a pop of colour. For 2021, bright colours are in, and we believe you can wear brightly coloured jewels and retain your grace and elegance. Drop earrings featuring featuring natural morganite, lemon quartz or blue topaz fit the bill for this trend perfectly and also add that touch of magic sparkle we love so much.
