A Handful of Wheat

I was visiting friends in Moree over Christmas in 2016. It had been a wet year and all the black soil plains of Northern New South Wales and the Southern Downs of Queensland was covered in wheat. The grain headers were working day and night and the silos were overflowing. It was a golden harvest and I took one handful of wheat home from the farm.

That handful of wheat has remained in a vase on designer Sarah Taylor's drafting table all this time being transformed into solid gold.

Nearly four years later and everyone is busily sowing so hopefully we're finally going to see a big crop of wheat this year.
